NEWARK, NJ, July 17 - The 2002 Atlantic League Champion Newark Bears have announced the schedule for six new NJ County Merchant Nights being held at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium during the remainder of the season.

Merchant Nights are designed to give local businesses the opportunity to reward employees or clients with tickets to a Newark Bears game. The Merchant Night schedule is as follows:

  • Bergen County
    Friday, August 1st (Fireworks Extravaganza by Providence Bank, Firefighters Night), Saturday, August 2nd (Baseballs for the 1st 2,000 fans by Nathan's, Italian American Night ).

  • Passaic County
    Wednesday, August 6th (Ladies's Night),
    Thursday, August 7th

  • Union County
    Friday, August 15th (Fireworks Extravaganza by IDT, Credit Union Night),
    Saturday, August 16th (Safety Whistles for the first 2,000 fans by
    Professional Security Bureau).

  • Morris County
    Thursday, August 28th,
    Friday, August 29th (Cheerstix for the 1st 2,000 fans by B&G Foods).

  • Hudson County
    Friday, September 12th (College Night),
    Sunday, September 13th (Fireworks Extravaganza by Shop Rite, Hispanic Heritage Night).
Local businesses that participate can choose from two different discounted ticket packages. A Full Block of tickets includes 100 Box seat ticket vouchers that can be used for either game of the given county's night, four Box seat tickets good for one of the two games, one autographed baseball signed by Bears Manager Bill Madlock given to the group leader and scoreboard and game program recognition for both games of the county's Merchant Night.

A Half Block includes 50 Upper Box ticket vouchers for either game of the given county's night, two Box seats good for one of the two games and scoreboard and program recognition for both games of the county's Merchant Night.

"We are very excited about incorporating this new program into our plans for the 2003 season. Merchant Nights will be a great way for us to welcome new businesses and fans to the ballpark and bring different communities together," said Chris Bryan, Vice President and General Manager of the Newark Bears Baseball Club.

To participate in any of the upcoming Merchant Nights please call the Bears ticket office at (973) 483-6900 or visit the Bears box office located at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

The 2003 Newark Bears season continues at home for a six game homestand at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium beginning on Sunday, July 20th against the Somerset Patriots at 1:35 PM. Sunday is also Konica Player Photo Day and Hoboken Day. In addition, fans are invited to participate in Family Fun Day activities which include a pre-game autograph session with Bears coaches and players, followed by kids running the bases after the game.
